GeoTech TerraLite is the "Classic" Geofoam, with the added bonus of being manufactured from fire resistant bead and having "TIMBOR" added, which prevents insects from nesting in the material.

For the un-initiated, "Geofoam" describes large blocks (approx 3' x 4' x 8 or 16') of a synthetic material weighing from 0.75 pcf to 2 pcf, depending on the physical properties required. This extremely light weight fill material permits immediate construction over areas where the soil characteristics would normally require months of surcharging or other exotic treatments to raise it's strength. Examples of TerraLite Geofoam usage are:

  • Highway, rail, or runway construction in areas of unstable soils
  • Landscaping berms over structural slabs or unstable soils
  • Backfill for building and retaining walls in areas of expansive or unstable soils
  • Levys and Dams
  • Large Fill-Jobs with unique requirements, such as quick turn around or low dust generation

The following chart illustrates the range of densities and unit prices for TerraFlex compared to other competing materials commonly used as light weight fills:

The real measure of TerraFlex EPS Geofoam as a cost effective light weight fill is best illustrated by the following graph, where TerraFlex is shown to be at least 5 times more cost effective as a light weight fill than any other material!

Is it any wonder that EPS Geofoam has been the light weight fill of choice for highway engineers in all of Europe and Japan for the last 15 years?
