GeoTech TerraLite is the "Classic" Geofoam, with the added bonus of being manufactured from fire resistant bead and having "TIMBOR" added, which prevents insects from nesting in the material. For the un-initiated, "Geofoam" describes large blocks (approx 3' x 4' x 8 or 16') of a synthetic material weighing from 0.75 pcf to 2 pcf, depending on the physical properties required. This extremely light weight fill material permits immediate construction over areas where the soil characteristics would normally require months of surcharging or other exotic treatments to raise it's strength. Examples of TerraLite Geofoam usage are:

line of EPS Geofoams, with discussion on how to design with this material. This is a short specification for the use on projects requiring the use of TerraLite Geofoam. Geofoam (TerraLite) Specification (html)This is a very comprehensive specification for use on projects requiring the use of TerraLite Geofoam. It includes more detail on the installation process and the use of a geomembrane. It can be saved as an ordinary TEXT document, and should be viewed and printed with a proportional font to preserve the formatting.
